And this year, Belgrade will host the largest Compliance conference in the region, organized by the Association for Compliance in Business. Like last year, the conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency hotel, but in twice the size of the 2023 conference. years. when we hosted more than 180 Compliance professionals, representatives of regulatory bodies and company management, and colleagues from partner organizations. We are especially proud that our Annual Conference was recognized as a regional event and we look forward to having the opportunity to host colleagues from the region this year as well.
This year, the conference is scheduled for October 18, 2024. year, and the topics that will be addressed this year include the most current issues for Compliance professionals, but also traditional Compliance topics, such as the role and importance of the Compliance function, the establishment of an effective anti-corruption program, or the prevention of fraudulent activities. Also, the conference will address the topic of sanctions, which are increasingly burdening the smooth operations of companies in the region, regardless of whether they are EU members or those countries that are on the way to becoming so. Special attention will be paid to the public sector, whose representatives will have the opportunity to discuss within the panel the obligation to establish a Compliance function in companies with majority ownership of the Republic of Serbia.
